Convertirán al Panteón de Dolores en el museo más grande de América Latina; data de 1874

Durante el año 2011, será puesto en marcha un insólito proyecto cultural en el Panteón de Dolores, el cual se convertiría en el museo más grande de América Latina, ya que además de contar con la Rotonda de Personas Ilustres, habrá recorridos a través de los cuales se visitarían aproximadamente unas 600 tumbas, así como monumentos de valor histórico y arquitectónico.

La Delegación Miguel Hidalgo (MH), en cuyo perímetro se ubica el camposanto, informó en un boletín de prensa que la subdirectora de Servicios al Público de la Miguel Hidalgo, Rocío Verena Ocampo Rabadán, aseguró que la administración local "trabajará intensamente en el panteón más grande de América Latina, toda vez que cuenta con tres proyectos nuevos, entre los que destaca, hacer del Panteón Dolores el museo histórico más grande de toda Latinoamérica, sin dejar de ser camposanto".

La funcionaria explicó que como primer objetivo se contempla terminar la construcción de la barda perimetral de 600 metros, asimismo recordó que el panteón fue fundado en el año de 1874, motivo por el que la barda de adobe que databa de esa fecha, cayó desde enero del 2009. Dijo que otro de los proyectos busca implementar en el panteón un sistema que mejore la vialidad y estancia de los visitantes en su interior, ya que los espacios son muy reducidos y resulta complicado circular cuando se realiza el ritual de un entierro, además de las averías que se generan en las tumbas por la aglomeración.

En este sentido, mencionó que para evitar esta problemática, se tiene proyectado destinar una parte del área de atrás del panteón para estacionamiento, con lo que estaría cerrado ya a la circulación en las calles del camposanto y únicamente podrían hacerlo las carrozas. Este proyecto, añadió, incluye también concesionar un servicio de bici taxis en su interior para que los visitantes puedan desplazarse hacia donde vayan, ya que siempre arriban personas que no pueden realizar recorridos largos, lo cual se solucionaría con esta medida.

Adicionalmente, la DMH informó que trabajarán en la instauración de recorridos turísticos a pie o en tranvía, medio de transporte adecuado al lugar que evitaría el deterioro del panteón, donde se podrán visitar las cerca de 600 tumbas, fosas o monumentos históricos que son muy atractivos históricos y culturales, de diferentes épocas, como del Art deco y Art Novuo, entre otras. Entre los monumentos verdaderamente atractivos se cuenta el mausoleo destinado a Matías Romero Avendaño, quien fuera el embajador de México ante Estados Unidos en las presidencias de Benito Juárez, Manuel González y Porfirio Díaz. La historia del Panteón Dolores, ubicado sobre la actual avenida Constituyentes, se remonta a 1870, cuando Dolores Murrieta de Gayosso, cuyos restos también se encuentran sepultados en el panteón, adquirió los terrenos para un panteón y después de su muerte, el cementerio fue bautizado en 1875 con su nombre y comenzó a ofrecer servicios al público. El Panteón Civil Dolores fue uno de los primeros que recibió la concesión después de la Reforma liberal que le quitó a la iglesia católica el monopolio de los camposantos.
