 --“Odio el deporte”--, me increpó tajantemente la bella artista dedicada a la danza clásica y contemporánea  y de tajo cortó mi euforia futbolera, producto del séptimo título obtenido por los Pumas de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) en el  campeonato nacional de clausura 2011 del futbol soccer profesional del país.
 
--¿Hablas del futbol y de su narcótico efecto en las masas?—le alcancé a preguntar, desconcertado aún por el descontón.
 
“Hablo de todo el deporte y los deportistas, son tan pagados de sí, y la gente que los sigue no ven que hay otras cosas en el mundo lejos de los estadios, cosas más importantes y sublimes”, respondió ella con un gesto duro que desdibujaba lo bello y profundo de sus ojos azul cielo.
 
--Si claro que las hay, pero hoy la noticia deportiva del momento es el triunfo, corona y golazo de los Pumas para alzarse victoriosos. Y también es la noticia principal al interior de la Universidad  y  tú eres universitaria, artista sí, pero universitaria  al fin y debería darte gusto—, le respondí para pedirle tiempo y me dejara explicarle las bondades del deporte.
 
Accedió, no sin dejar de cuestionarme con su actitud un tanto retadora y ocultando su espléndida hermosura tras un rictus severo. Le hablé del aspecto formativo del deporte cuando lo practicas desde temprana edad; le hablé de la disciplina que trae consigo su ejercicio continuo y por largos periodos; le hablé del espíritu de lucha y sacrificio que crea en el individuo; le hablé del trabajo en equipo cuando lo haces en disciplinas colectivas; le hablé de la concentración que llegas a desarrollar cuando estas en plena competencia. También le comenté lo que significa para los universitarios tener un equipo ganador, integrado casi en su totalidad por puros jugadores hechos en casa, en la llamada Cantera del Pedregal. Pero sobre todo le hice ver que en la práctica deportiva puedes perder o puedes ganar, pero siempre tienes la oportunidad de levantarte e ir por la revancha, en una competencia leal y reglamentada.
 
Su mirada se fue endulzando y sus labios fueron relajándose para esbozar una leve sonrisa y seguir atenta a mis palabras. Entonces aproveché para tocar el tema del arraigo y pertenencia que da a los universitarios el contar con representativos ganadores y exitosos. En cómo se traducen los triunfos en el bienestar colectivo de la comunidad, entendida ésta por la suma de sus estudiantes, académicos y trabajadores. Adrede me salté el cómo los políticos se cuelgan del deporte y de los exitosos para hacerse propaganda y mostrarse en los estadios o en las sedes del poder, pues eso sí es odioso; adrede me salté el cómo los ambiciosos acaparan boletos y los revenden aprovechando el fervor de los fanáticos; adrede me salté el hecho de que algunos fanáticos se ocultan en el anonimato para cometer barbaridades, adrede no mencioné a los fariseos que mercan y medran con las diversas disciplinas y deportistas para llenarse los bolsillos. Hablar de eso le habría dado la razón de que el deporte tiene algo de reprochable y bárbaro, que no puede ni debe atribuirse a los deportistas sino a aquellos que lucran con esta noble actividad lúdica, recreativa y apasionante.
 
Le comenté que el deporte también es cultura y que hay una filosofía del deporte, una sociología del deporte, antropología del deporte, medicina del deporte y hasta estética del deporte. Le narré también que el gol de Javier Cortés, en el minuto 76, en una excepcional jugada del joven atacante, provocó la euforia, la emoción, el éxtasis de cerca de 50 mil aficionados que colmaron estadio Olímpico Universitario y que en un solo grito nos fundimos en un gooooya, y luego en un enorme coro para entonar: “Como no te voy a querer”. Y entonces abrazado con mis dos hijos, Víctor y Paco, reímos de felicidad y vimos cómo nos escurrían por las mejillas unas lagrimillas de alegría.
Finalice diciendo: el deporte también es cultura, arraigo y pertenencia. Ella solo dijo: “huumm no sé…” Y rematé: así como la danza provoca un éxtasis y una fascinación al conjuntarse música y estética corporal en las coreografías, el buen accionar de un deportista, o una gran jugada te lleva a momentos sublimes. Danza y deporte son un todo, un complemento, pues hay bailarinas (es) que logran proezas atléticas. ¿O no?
