Con una farsa cómica intitulada 'La que hubiera amado tanto' y que representó a la delegación Benito Juárez del Distrito Federal, se inauguró el XXIII Encuentro Nacional de los Amantes del Teatro 2011 en el teatro Jiménez Rueda de la capital del país.
La ceremonia inaugural estuvo a cargo de la actriz Isabel Quintanar, directora general del Instituto Internacional de Teatro de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Educación, la Ciencia y la Cultura (UNESCO)-México. En su intervención dijo que el teatro es de seres humanos, “unos que hablan, otros que escuchan; es la magia de la energía, no hay que permitir que se diluya la conciencia de lo que es el placer escénico'.
Poco más de 40 obras teatrales se presentarán durante este Encuentro Nacional, que se prolongará hasta el 23 de enero, que tendrá lugar en varias delegaciones del Distrito Federal, así como en distintos estados del país. El acontecimiento es organizado por el Centro Mexicano del Instituto Internacional del Teatro, de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Educación, la Ciencia y la Cultura (UNESCO), a través de la Coordinación Nacional de Teatro, del Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes. Incluye la presentación de 20 grupos teatrales que darán funciones en los estados de México, Aguascalientes, Guanajuato y Tamaulipas. Tras el éxito del año pasado que contó con más de 20 mil aficionados, esta edición incluirá la participación de las compañías Cotemex, Granma, Reno, Tranvía, Tlancualejo, Árbol y Toputshi, entre otras.

La obra con la que se inició dicho encuentro fue 'La que hubiera amado tanto', de Alejandro Licona, bajo al dirección de Eduardo Pérez Galán, farsa cómica que representó a la DBJ. Se trata de una historia que busca a la mujer ideal. El personaje central de la puesta en escena, Odilón, es un hombre en busca de compañía que intenta descubrir sus problemas existenciales, básicamente el de la soledad en una mujer, concebida en la ciencia ficción del futuro, desechable, que se adquiere en la tienda y se vende enlatada. Además, este tipo de mujeres están programadas para satisfacer todos los deseos y necesidades del hombre. La farsa adquiere cuerpo cuando Lotario le obsequia una muñeca defectuosa y de ahí se desencadena una serie de situaciones que a la postre dejan como reflexión que el amor está por encima del placer.
En la primera jornada de este encuentro nacional de teatro también se escenificó la obra 'Yo, Sor Juana, la peor de todas', dirigida y escrita por Germán Gastélum, que fue del completo agrado y satisfacción del público, que al final de la representación le tributó una fuerte ovación.
