El Metrobús fue concebido como un proyecto que buscaba cambiar la imagen de la ciudad en materia de transporte público, por ser considerado un medio sustentable, moderno, eficaz y amigable con el medio ambiente. Por ello, no podemos minimizar su importancia ya que a través de sus tres rutas en funcionamiento transporta diariamente a más de 500 mil capitalinos.
La primera línea de Metrobús que se construyó en el Distrito Federal fue inaugurada en junio de 2004 por el entonces jefe de Gobierno, Andrés Manuel López Obrador. Siete años más tarde, el gobierno capitalino pretende construir la línea número 4 con una ruta que llevaría de Buenavista al Aeropuerto, pasando por el Centro Histórico y San Lázaro.
No obstante, un gobierno que le apuesta a la innovación y el mejoramiento del transporte público en una de las ciudades con graves problemas de movilidad como el Distrito Federal, no debe oponerse al cumplimiento de la ley, a garantizar las medidas de seguridad indispensables en todo transporte público, mucho menos a respetar los derechos humanos de los usuarios y peatones.
Con varios años de experiencia desde la construcción de la primera línea de Metrobús, el gobierno capitalino ya debería saber los inconvenientes y contratiempos que este tipo de obras genera a miles de capitalinos y que no puede iniciar una obra sin concluir otra similar, y sin haber corregido los graves errores de trazo y operación de este medio de transporte.
Uno de esos problemas tiene que ver con las normas básicas de señalización, de cruces e intersecciones entre avenidas de alta afluencia vehicular y peatonal con las del Metrobús. Las líneas 2 y 3 ya en funcionamiento aún presentan importantes problemas de orden y seguridad.
Recientemente fuimos testigos de un lamentable accidente entre una unidad de Metrobús de la Línea 2 con un camión de pasajeros, donde murieron tres mujeres. Este hecho se suma a la larga lista de incidentes que ocurren diariamente en este sistema de transporte debido a la poca pericia y a la irresponsabilidad de muchos de los conductores que están al frente de este transporte, pero también se deben a las prisas y desesperación de un gobierno, como el de Marcelo Ebrard, que no planea ni construye estas obras debidamente.
Es indispensable que el jefe de gobierno escuche el llamado de los ciudadanos que a gritos le piden que atienda sus quejas. No debemos esperar a que más accidentes cobren la vida de más personas y que sólo sea así cuando busque corregir los problemas que los capitalinos vivimos día a día con este importante medio de transporte.
